ECMO Specialist Training Programs
ECMO Advantage can provide a full ECMO Specialist Training course that would provide all the education suggested in the ELSO guidelines for an ECMO program. A full course supplying all the ELSO recommended training would require 4-5 days. ECMO Advantage would send experienced ECMO Specialist to your center to provide the training for your staff at your hospital using your equipment and circuitry. We would customize the training to your ECMO policies, procedures, and protocols. We believe this provides the greatest advantage to your institution because you can send as many people as you want to the training with minimal expense and maximum exposure to the ECMO process. We encourage you to send bedside caregivers (RN's, RRT's, MD's, Perfusionists, etc.) who are not going to be trained as ECMO Specialists to the training as well. The concept of "Institutional Exposure" to the ECMO process is very valuable. The more people you can educate the better. The direct fees paid to ECMO Advantage are the same regardless of how many people you train.
ECMO Advantage Specialists train according to ELSO Guidelines. This does NOT mean we encourage a "traditional" ECMO Program. We will tailor the training to the unique needs of your institution. We highly recommend a full 5 days of training in order to fit all the base information recommended by ELSO in the training program. Generally we request 6-8 weeks advanced notice to set up the most beneficial Training Program.
Training of your ECMO Specialists should be done AFTER your program development plans are complete. Many institutions attempt to train their staff before their program is well defined. ECMO Advantage can assist you with your program development as well
