            ECMO Co-Coordinator
            Austin, TX
            Dell Children's Medical Center

            Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas located in Austin, Texas is recruiting for an ECMO Co-Coordinator for a new ECMO Program. Along with an experienced Primary Coordinator and in conjunction with the ECMO Medical Director, the co-coordinator will share responsibilities for all operational aspects of the program. We are looking for a Registered Nurse or Registered Respiratory Therapist licensed to practice in the State of Texas or eligible for licensure. Minimum 4 years experience in neonatal or pediatric intensive care required.  Current BLS and PALS required. Management experience desired.

            Satisfactory completion of an ECMO training program, with a minimum of 2 years of bedside Specialist experience is required.   
            Job duties include:
            • assembly/ priming of circuits and initiation of ECMO
            • routine management of ECMO patients
            • handling emergent situations involving ECMO equipment and patients
            • policy, procedure and protocol development
            • management of a future ECMO Specialist team (including education, scheduling and maintenance of competencies)

            Flexibility and ability to serve as a leader and team player are vital to this position.

            St. David's Healthcare is looking for a NICU ECMO coordinator for one of our seven hospitals, St. David's Medical Center which includes
            • 65 bed level III NICU, the largest level III NICU in Central Texas.
            • Conventional ventilation as well as a oscillator, high frequency and nitric oxide capabilities.
            • Care for all infants requiring intensive care including extremely premature infants and all surgical cases (except major open-heart surgery).
            • Body cooling system that induces hypothermia to reduce brain damage.
            • The only cerebral function monitoring system in the city.

            They have an active developmental team including SLPs, OTs, PTs, and staff dietitians. The NICU also includes a satellite pharmacy with specialized pharmacists and techs. Our transport team is available 24/7 for any hospital requesting a transfer to our unit. The all RN staff are NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certified and many are NCC (National Certification Credentialing) certified in their area of specialty. There is a Neonatologist in house 24/7.
